Empowering Change: The Impact of Sadie’s Dog Trust and the Power of One
Sadie’s Dog Trust, a non-profit organisation based in Bacau, Romania, is on a mission to alleviate the suffering of dogs and cats in need. Their core values revolve around providing care, protection, treatment, and security to animals facing sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances, or ill usage. Through their rescue and rehabilitation efforts, Sadie’s Dog Trust aims to find loving homes for these animals, primarily in the United Kingdom. Together with the Power of One, we can make a significant impact on the lives of these deserving animals.
Creating a Haven for Traumatised Dogs:
Many dogs have endured unimaginable trauma, leading them to lose trust in humans. Unfortunately, not all of them can be easily rehoused. Recognising this challenge, Sadie’s Dog Trust has pioneered the concept of freedom shelters. These vast acres of rolling countryside provide a secure haven where dogs can live, roam, and explore freely, without the confined pressures of traditional kennels. At these shelters, their needs are catered to, ensuring they receive shelter, food, and care, all within a nurturing environment.
The Power of Your Generosity:
Thanks to your generous donations to the Power of One, Sadie’s Dog Trust has been able to save and transform countless animal lives. One remarkable achievement involved relocating 24 dogs to a freedom shelter in Romania, offering them a chance at a new beginning. Additionally, over 120 dogs have been rescued from a public shelter, providing them with a fresh start. These animals are all vaccinated and spayed/neutered, promoting their overall health and well-being. Dedicated workers stay on-site to ensure the dogs are supervised and receive the attention they deserve.
The Journey to Freedom:
Upon arrival at the freedom shelter, the dogs are placed in a spacious enclosure where they can acclimate to their new surroundings. After approximately a month, once they have settled, the gates are opened, giving them the choice to explore further and integrate with other dogs already residing there. This gradual integration process promotes socialisation, enabling the dogs to build trust and form new bonds, ultimately increasing their chances of finding their forever homes.

Together with Laura and Sadie’s Dog Trust, we are committed to being the voice for smaller rescues worldwide and raising awareness of their invaluable work. Expressing Our Gratitude:
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters for their unwavering commitment to animal welfare. It is your donations, both big and small, that enable us to continue our tireless efforts in making a difference in the lives of neglected and abused animals around the world. Together, we can create a better world for all animals.
Let us forge ahead, united in our mission to improve the lives of animals in need. By working hand in hand, we can make a lasting impact, providing love, care, and second chances to those who deserve it most. Your support matters, and we invite you to join us on this journey of compassion and change. Together, we can create a world where every animal is valued, cherished, and given the opportunity to thrive.
FAQ’s
What is a freedom shelter?
A freedom shelter, also known as a rescue shelter or dog rescue organisation, is a facility or organisation that specialises in rescuing and providing shelter to dogs in need. These shelters often rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, abusive situations, or situations where they are at risk, and provide them with a safe and caring environment.
Why adopting a rescue dog is better?
Adopting a rescue dog comes with numerous benefits for both the dog and the adopter. Here are a few reasons why adopting a rescue dog is a great choice:
Saving a life: By adopting a rescue dog, you provide a second chance to a dog that may have faced abandonment or euthanasia. You become their hero and give them a chance to experience love, care, and a forever home.
Emotional fulfilment: Rescue dogs often show immense gratitude and loyalty to their adoptive families. The bond you form with a rescue dog can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.
Health and behaviour: Many rescue organisations ensure that their dogs are thoroughly examined, vaccinated, and treated for any health issues before adoption. Additionally, rescue dogs often receive training and rehabilitation, making them well-behaved companions.
Variety of options: Rescue shelters offer a wide variety of dogs in terms of breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities. This allows you to find the perfect match for your lifestyle and preferences.
Supporting the cause: By adopting a rescue dog, you actively contribute to the mission of animal welfare organisations, helping them provide care and shelter to more dogs in need.
What is spaying?
Spaying refers to the surgical removal of a female dog’s reproductive organs, including the ovaries and uterus. This procedure eliminates the dog’s ability to become pregnant and helps prevent certain health issues, such as uterine infections and certain types of cancer.
What is neutering?
Neutering, also known as castration, involves the surgical removal of a male dog’s testicles. This procedure eliminates the dog’s ability to impregnate females and can help reduce undesirable behaviours, such as aggression and roaming.
