Meet Marija: The Heart and Soul of Pawpers in the Ruff, Macedonia

Affectionately known as “The Boss,” Marija is a remarkable individual who stands out as one in a million. Her heart knows no bounds, and her dedication knows no rest. She is a shining example of compassion and determination in the world of animal rescue.

A Hero’s Journey Unfolds 

Marija’s journey in rescue began nine years ago, and it’s a journey that has left an indelible mark. Today, she not only embraces the role of a mother to two children but also to four rescue dogs. 

Allow us to introduce them:

• Hektor: Marija’s first love, who opened the door to the world of rescue. Hektor taught her the art of unconditional love and the power of silent communication.
• Kasko: Known as “The Black Mamba,” he was rescued from the streets right after being hit by a car. Kasko taught Marija that some souls are never meant to return to the cruel streets.
• Dzi Dza: A furry angel taken into Marija’s care three years ago, a testament to the kind heart she possesses. Marija knew from the moment she saw Dzi Dza, hairless and in need, that this pup had found her forever home.
• Jonny: The latest addition to Marija’s family, found on a freezing, snowy night, hungry and wounded. He, too, found warmth, care, and love under Marija’s roof.
  

Beyond the Home, a Life of Dedication 

But Marija’s love and dedication extend far beyond her home. She works a full-time job from 8 to 6 every day, alongside caring for her family. As a former professional athlete and a social worker by profession, she brings a unique set of skills to the world of rescue.

Strength Forged in the Face of Adversity 

For nine years, Marija has witnessed the most heart-wrenching scenes and lived through the most challenging moments. Yet, these experiences have only strengthened her resolve. She believes in daring to dream big because that’s how dreams become reality.

Rescuing Innocent Souls from the Horrific Dump 

One of those dreams was to rescue the innocent souls trapped in the horrific dump. A place where more than 600 lives have been saved, 600 destinies changed, and 600 dogs given a second chance at life. Thanks to Marija’s determination, they have been saved from that nightmarish place.
