We started our shelter in 2019 as we urgently needed a safe haven for our growing number of rescue dogs. In the beginning conditions were very basic, just fencing and a roof. With hard work and dedication from our handful of wonderful volunteers we have made many improvements for the dogs in our care. These include resurfacing with gravel to avoid the dogs living in mud and digging holes, plus it is easier for us to manage as we have no water or electricity supply at the shelter. Stronger fencing installed and wooden kennels built to give more protection in winter. Winters in North Macedonia are harsh with temperatures dropping to -15. The straw used for insulation was causing skin issues so we had to winter proof them by adding insulation board. It is not possible to walk the dogs daily, winter days are short and cold, summer days often to hot. We have a small area where 2/3 dogs can play but our dream is to create a large play area for days we can’t walk them plus it gives the dogs opportunity to socialise with each other.

We have access to a small piece of land adjacent to the shelter. We have started the work to clear the area of brambles and weeds by hand. Now we require financial support to employ the services of a groundwork’s team and buy materials. Following covid and the current world problems it is becoming increasingly difficult to raise funds and we need 3000 to make this wish come true. The ground needs to be levelled and trenches dug for fencing to be concreted into the ground. It is important the dogs can’t dig underneath the fencing. We will need the following materials, gravel (lots of), concrete and metal fencing. Please help us make our dream come true for our dogs, they deserve it.
