When Nature Strikes Without Warning

When Nature Strikes Without Warning

Nature doesn’t give us time to prepare. It doesn’t pause to ask if we’re ready. It just comes.

For the team at War Paws, it came in the form of a sudden tornado, tearing through their shelter in under two minutes.

Only days earlier, we’d shared the harsh reality of Iraq’s soaring summer temperatures. Shade and water are what stand between life and suffering for street animals. Now, in a matter of seconds, what little protection the animals had was gone.

Kennels destroyed. Fencing ripped away. Structures flattened.

Imagine trying to stay ahead of extreme heat only to lose everything that provided cover, security, and shelter. The team were left with injured dogs, open ground, exposed living spaces… and no time to waste.

What happened next shows the kind of people behind this work.

Staff on their days off rushed in. Volunteers showed up within minutes. No one was called, they just came.

Because in animal rescue, love shows up when everything else falls apart.

But love alone can’t rebuild. Donations can.

The War Paws team are working tirelessly to clear debris, rebuild shelters, and prepare for the next wave of heat. Every pound helps them restore what’s been lost and protect the animals who rely on them.

If you’ve ever wondered what difference you can make….. this is it.

Even the smallest donation helps bring back safety, shade, and security.
