Standing With TOLFA
A March of Love, Not Indifference
On 19th August, hundreds of people gathered in Ajmer, Rajasthan, to walk in silence. Not out of indifference, but out of love. Animal lovers of every age and background joined together to march peacefully for India’s stray dogs.
The Ruling That Sparked Protest
The march came in response to a recent Supreme Court ruling calling for all stray dogs to be removed from the streets and placed into shelters. On the surface, this might sound like a solution. In reality, it risks creating overcrowded and inhumane conditions, while stripping dogs of the territories they know as home.
A Different Path Forward
TOLFA and many other animal welfare organisations believe there is a better way. A path based on coexistence, sterilisation, vaccination, and compassion. These approaches protect both animals and the communities they live alongside.
Why This Matters
This march was not only about Ajmer’s dogs. It was about something bigger. It was about a principle: that animals deserve to live with dignity, and that ordinary citizens have the power to stand up for them.
The Power of Refusing to Stay Silent
At Power of One, we share this story because it is a reminder that change often begins when people refuse to stay silent. Small acts of courage can grow into movements, and movements can reshape how societies treat their most vulnerable.
