Hurricane Melissa. Jamaica’s Animals Need Help

Hurricane Melissa has devastated Jamaica. Homes are destroyed, roads have collapsed, power lines are down and entire communities are struggling to recover. Alongside the human impact there are countless animals now fighting to survive with no shelter, no food and no support.

Who Is Responding on the Ground

Network for Animals is providing urgent assistance to four local rescue groups that have been hit hard and are now facing impossible conditions.

  • Negril Pup Rescue
  • OnlyPaws Cat Rescue
  • Kitties of Kingston
  • Portland Pups

These teams are working in areas where buildings have collapsed and transport routes are blocked. They are trying to reach stranded animals, treat injuries, locate missing pets and rebuild the spaces that once kept animals safe.

The Scale of the Crisis

Many animals have been left starving or injured. Shelters have been destroyed. Rescuers are struggling to reach the animals that depend on them.

During disasters like this, attention rightly turns to the human toll. Yet the suffering of animals is severe and often goes unseen. These local teams are doing everything possible to prevent further loss.

How You Can Help

If you have ever wondered how to make a difference during a crisis, supporting the people already on the ground is one of the most effective ways. Every contribution helps provide:

  • Food
  • Veterinary treatment
  • Emergency shelter
  • Transport and rescue missions
  • Repairs to damaged facilities
