English Channel Swim Update: A Historic Journey Returns
Earlier this year, we faced a challenging decision to postpone our ambitious World Record attempt, led by the indomitable Ger Kennedy, to swim across the English Channel. Adverse weather conditions and logistical hurdles led us to this decision.
However, we promised that this incredible challenge would make a triumphant return, and we’re thrilled to announce that it’s officially back on track for January 2024!
Our teams are now gearing up for an extraordinary endeavor, one that includes an unprecedented milestone—the FIRST-EVER winter crossing of the English Channel.
The objectives set are:
- First Mixed (Women V Men) Team
- First Mixed-Ability Team
- First Competitive Relay Race in the Winter Months
This historic swim will take place during the winter months, spanning from December 1st, 2023, to February 28th, 2024.
Main Objectives of the Swim:
Raising Funds: Our mission is dedicated to raising vital funds for The Power of One, supporting and empowering women in the animal welfare community.
Making History: We’re determined to be pioneers by swimming the Channel during the winter months. Our goal is to complete the swim with two teams of five, featuring both male and female swimmers, and to be the first to complete it as a competitive relay race in the winter months.
Mental Health Awareness: We are deeply committed to raising awareness about mental health and promoting mental well-being. Our aim is to inspire those facing mental health challenges to seek help, find inner peace, and develop effective coping strategies.
We wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have supported us with your generous donations and encouragement thus far. Your support has been truly amazing, and we couldn’t have come this far without you.
Stay tuned, as we will continue to keep you updated on our progress through our social channels.
