A Cry From Beneath the Concrete
Rescue Begins With Awareness, Compassion, and Action
A Call That Couldn’t Be Ignored
Our friends at Jai Dog Rescue recently received a heartbreaking call. In a quiet rural village in Thailand, the cries of newborn puppies were heard coming from beneath a home.
Their mother had crawled into a small cavity under a concrete slab to give birth. It was a hidden, sheltered spot. But she never came back out. She had been poisoned, leaving her tiny pups behind, defenceless in the dark.
A Community Steps Up
The homeowner who heard their cries knew something wasn’t right. The space was too narrow for him to reach the pups, so he called for help.
A Jai Dog Rescue team member, just returning from a sterilisation mission, responded immediately. Together, they carefully removed part of the slab and brought five tiny lives out into the light.
Rescue Is More Than the Moment
What followed was just as important as the rescue itself. The team spent time with the homeowner, sharing advice, care tips, and guidance on how to support the puppies until they are strong enough for vaccination and sterilisation.
This kind of interaction is at the heart of meaningful rescue work. It is not only about saving animals in crisis. It is also about building trust, educating communities, and laying the foundations for long-term change.
The Impact of One
This rescue was made possible by a series of individual choices:
The awareness of one local resident
The dedication of one rescue worker
The shared mission of one organisation committed to reducing suffering
These individual actions came together to protect life and promote compassion.
This Is the Power of One
At Power of One, we believe real change begins when people are empowered to act. Rescue is not just about what happens on the streets. It is about the people who live alongside it. When communities become part of the solution, the impact grows far beyond the moment.
This story is not just about five puppies. It is about what happens when people notice, when they care, and when they choose to do something.
That is the Power of One.
